Giacomo Puccini was an Italian composer known for his operas.
Born on 22 December 1858, in Lucca, Tuscany, he is regarded as the greatest proponent of Italian opera after Verdi. Verdi is very famous for the libretto (extended musical work) "Rigoletto".
Puccini's Suor Angelica ("Sister Angelica"), featuring the composition Ave Maria, was composed in 1918, when he was age 60.
