Afrikaans, spoken in Southern Africa (mainly South Africa and Namibia), is a language derived from Dutch brought to the Cape in the 17th Century by Protestant settlers. It is spoken by about 14% of South Africa's population (the most widely spoken language is Zulu at 23%). The ISO language code for Afrikaans is AF (ISO-639-1).
